Measuring different parameters during processing is a critical task that falls on instrumentation, as it allows plants operators to get accurate readings of level, temperature, pressure, flow and analyzers.

Overall, instruments can be divided into two categories. “The ones that are being used to measure the process where the signal is used for control, and the ones that are being used to measure where the measurement is being used for billing,” says Reinier van der Wal, service sales director Middle East, Honeywell Process Solutions. “This last group is usually referred to as fiscal metering instrumentation,” van der Wal adds.

There are several categories of measurements need to be conducted during the chemical process.

“For each parameter, there is several part of the process that needs to be measured. Each measurement is conducted by specific instrumentation,” says David Hewitt, business development manager – chemical and petrochemical industry Middle East, Endress+Hauser Instruments International.

“For example, for flow there is the Coriolis and Vortex, for Radar there are radar ToF (Time of Flight), GWR (Guided Wave Radar), Hydrostatic, Capacitance and floats. In addition to many other measurements,” he adds.

Endress+Hauser is a full supplier of instrumentation and solutions that can be installed with any other product.

“It is part of our philosophy to go for open communication standards instead of proprietary solutions. This ensures seamless integration of the instruments in the communication network and easy remote configuration,” Hewitt adds.

As there are many parameters that need to be measured, instruments developers need to offer cutting-dge solutions that meet the expectations of clients.

“Magnetrol level and flow controls use state-of-the-art technology and are produced under strict quality procedures of ISO 9001 - PED 97/23/EC,” says Yvan Druez, export manager, Middle East at Magnetrol International.

“The majority of the devices manufactured by us are designed and tailor-made to the specifications and requests of our customers,” he adds.

Magnetrol offers downstream clients Guided Wave Radar (GWR).
