Lamprell awarded $39.4m Indian offshore contract

The engineering services provider Lamprell has announced that it has been awarded a US$39.4 million contract by an Indian energy company for the construction of two offshore well head platforms for an offshore gas field development in India.

In a statement the company said that the project will be carried out with consortium partner Swiber Offshore Construction.

The terms of the contract will Lamprell carry out the design and construction while Swiber will undertake the transportation, installation and pipeline aspects of the project.

“We are very pleased to have been awarded our first contract as a primary contractor in the Indian offshore market for the delivery of two offshore well head platforms,” Nigel McCue, CEO, Lamprell said.

The well head platforms comprise of piles, jacket and topside platform. The load out weight of each platform (with jacket and piles) will be in excess of 2,000 tonnes.

Delivery of the platforms at Lamprell’s Jebel Ali quayside is scheduled for December 2010. Media reports have identified the Indian company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation as the probable client.
