Lamprell announces new contracts worth $51 million

The engineering services provider Lamprell has announced that it has been awarded US$51 million worth of contracts by a number of major oilfield services companies.

In a statement released on the company’s website the company said that the major awards came from the Italian outfit Saipem and the Japan Drilling Co. (JDC).

The scope of the $16.6 million Saipem contract will involve Lamprell constructing two interconnecting accommodation modules with helideck, that will provide accommodation for 140 people.

“This contract will be carried out at our Jebel Ali facility and will be delivered to Saipem at the Jebel Ali quayside in December 2010. Saipem will then transport the modules to the Caspian Sea,” the statement said.

The JDC contract is worth $11.8 million and involves the upgrade and refurbishment of jackup drilling rig Sagadrill 2.

“The rig is expected to arrive at our Sharjah facility in April 2010 and will remain at our facility for three months whilst the works are undertaken,” the statement added.

In addition to the two main construction contracts the company has added $22.3 million worth of rig contracts.
