An investment division from the Iraqi province of Diwaniya has met a delegation from foreign companies interested in building a US$2.9 billion oil refinery in the area.
Aswat Al-Iraq reported that the refinery will be built around the Diwaniya city about 180 kilometres south of Baghdad.
"The refinery will have a production capacity of 140,000 barrels per day," Eng. Hakim al-Khozaee, the commission's director general, is quoted by Aswat al-Iraq as saying.
