Muntajat, Total sign marketing agreement

During the recent K Trade Fair 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany, Muntajat (Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company QJSC) signed its first international marketing agency agreement with Total.

Total – with polymer business unit offices based in Brussels, Belgium, and a research centre in Feluy, Belgium, to pool catalyst expertise and develop new products – produces a range of polymers including polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene.

Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, Chief Executive Officer, Muntajat, and Xavier Bontemps, Senior Vice President, Polymers Business Unit, Total, signed the agreement, according to which, starting from the 1st of January 2017, Muntajat will market a range of specialty polymers of Total in the Middle East, including nine different grades of metallocene polyethylene and 12 grades of polystyrene.

Speaking on the importance of this new agreement, Al-Abdulla said: “This agreement represents a key achievement for Muntajat and acts as a stepping stone for our future growth strategy. By introducing new products to our portfolio, we are able to enrich our offerings and give our customers in the region the added value that they need. With this new collaboration with Total, we are able to strengthen our position in the global industry and move closer to our vision of becoming the world leader in the marketing and distribution of downstream products.”

As per the new agreement, Muntajat will act as the marketing agent for Total’s polyethylene and polystyrene in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arabic Emirates, Qatar and Jordan, while the company will also be the agent for Polyethylene in Egypt. Muntajat is planning to market the products through its network of international offices spread in the region.

Commenting on the pact, Xavier said: “Total is very selective when choosing an agent as we are always seeking partners who mirror our commitment to excellence in service and best practices. We believe that Muntajat is the partner of choice for us and I am certain that they will help us increase our polymer reach in the region.”

As Muntajat marks four years since its establishment, this new agreement comes in alignment with the company’s expansion and growth strategy. The company is now focused on enhancing its portfolio and widening its reach to tap into new markets.
