Iraq’s oil exports surpassed 2.5 million barrels per day (bpd) in April, up nearly 200,000 bpd from March, according to Iraq's South Oil Marketing Company (SOMO).
Exports of 2.508 million bpd were powered by the debottleneckiing of southern oil production, as new offshore export terminals helped increase sales. The new suite of terminals will eventually add 4.5 million bpd of export capacity via Basra.
Iraq is also pressing ahead with attempts to get BP to rehabilitate the Kirkuk field in North Iraq, and is holding an oil and gas field bidding auction at the end of the month.
